Soccer News - David Beckham wanted by West Ham United by Stephen Lars

Back in 2009, David Beckham, the talented midfielder who had began his professional career and his rise to international stardom at Manchester United was playing his first game against the team that would have prepared him for one of the finest professional careers in recent years. Beckham was playing as a loan for Milan and despite a bit of controversy when he played at Old Trafford, and yet many of the fans were happy and excited to see him back in his home-turf. Milan lost the tie with Manchester by an overall score of 7-2. The Manchester United fans were quite excited about seen Beckham back in top-shape. He was not only a respected player in the city, but there where high hopes for him to start in the South Africa 2010 World Cup with the English team. Considering his age and the fact that his career was on its final stages, most of the fans, and perhaps the player himself new that this was his last chance at a World Cup scenario. Tragically enough, on his next game against Chiero Verona Beckham suffered a torn Achilles tendon. Italian-born England Head Coach Fabio Capello brought him in later to the World Cup as one of the management assistants. Now, that he has nearly completed his recovery, Capello has announced that he has no plans for Beckham as part of the English National team. Beckham is still under contract with the LA Galaxy in the MLS. Rumor has it that the player will not be playing again for Milan, as the Italian team has hinted that they are no longer interested in his services. Now, it is a team in the English Premiere League who is making a bid for his service. West Ham wants to have him back as a seasoned professional. When they talk about hiring Beckham, they talk about bringing him in to play a crucial ambassadorial role in the team's efforts to land the England Olympic Stadium once the 2012 London Olympic Games are finished. The thing here is that, it seems only as the wrong approach all together. Beckham wants to keep playing in the field, he wants to stay valuable as a professional athlete, not so much for his diplomatic charisma or the well managed public persona he is. One thing seems to be clearer. Beckham is going to keep on fighting for a position on the English National team. He sports agent has said in regards to Capello's decision that "There has been no discussion of retirement. He will always be available for his country, when fit and if needed he will be there." This is quite a statement. At the end it is not clear if he is leaving on good terms with Capello. On his behalf, the head coach has said the he is a great player, but as a coach, he has to keep on looking for the younger talents that are the ones that might bring in a future championship for the English National team.

Barclays Premier League - Kick off!

From the year 2004-05 the Premier League has only known two champions: Manchester United and Chelsea, who currently holds the title. This Saturday 14th a new season begins with two serious contenders for the Bleus and Red Devils: Manchester City, and Arsenal. The Citizens have made a strong investment for the second year in a row, and hope that this season will be their time to shine. On the other hand, Arsenal thinks that its young team is now mature enough to bring the trophy back to Highbury.
After having to stand all the rumors about their captain going back home, Arsenal fans are very glad to hear the Cesc Fabregas will be their leader again this season. French coach Arsene Wegner was able to convince the Spaniard about his role in the team and how important his continuance was for the accomplishment of titles. Wegner's youngsters have matured and he thinks that this will be their year, despite the team being young, they have a lot of first class games on their backs. If injuries don't interfere with their game, like it happened last season, their winning chances are real.
In contrast with Arsenal, who has a philosophy of buying young talented players for no multimillionaire prices, Manchester City doesn't want to wait all those years until their players grow up and gain experience. This is the reason why so much money has been spent in the last and present season in players who are already prepared to win a title. The anxiety to win shows no remorse when adding zeros to the checks in order to get the players they want. Last season they finished in fifth place, and looking at its roster, not improving that position would be a total failure. The objective is to at least qualify for the UEFA Champions League, and to do so they have to finish among the top four.
Manchester United is after its 19th title in this competition, and no consolidated players have arrived this season so far, only young players with a prominent future like Chris Smalling and Javier "Chicharito" Hernandez. Ferguson's trust will be placed in the experience of its roster and the continuity of his philosophy. Hopefully for them, Chicharito will be a good companion for Wayne Rooney in the offensive of the team, because Berbatov didn't fulfill the expectations last season, and the team significantly suffered the absence of a striker last season when Rooney was injured.
The defending champion suffered the departure of four great players: Deco, Ballack, Carvalho, and Joe Cole, but this shouldn't an obstacle on their race to revalidate the title. The team has a lot of experienced players to overcome this situation, plus two really good arrivals: Israeli Yossi Benayoun and Brazilian Ramires. Michael Essien is back and ready for the season after his injury, and for Salomon Kalou "having him on the team is a bonus" because they know "how important he can be to the whole season".
Other teams like Liverpool or Tottenham are expected to have a good performance this season and challenge the top teams in the league, but it is going to be harder for them to fight for the title as they have more limitations. Tottenham's goal might be more focused in qualifying for the European competitions, while Liverpool hopes to put an end to 20 years without a Premier League title, but they don't look as prepared to be considered one of the favorites.

La Liga's popularity

Barcelona's Lionel Messi was voted as man of t...Image via Wikipedia
Arguably the best football league in the world, the Spanish La Liga's popularity has spiralled over the past few years. Examining what makes the La Liga so attractive is interesting as it is completely different from what makes any other league work. The La Liga is it own beast, as you surely will discover.

The popularity of the La Liga is emphasised more through its individual brilliance rather than by its hardworking team ethics. With some of the best players in the world based in Spain, the quality seen week in week out in La Liga is without a doubt the most electric in Europe. Players such as David Villa, Lionel Messi, Samuel Eto'o and many more provide bind blowing dribbles, emphatic goals and seem to have glue on their boots. With Lionel Messi in his unstoppable form, a certainty to pick up this years World Player of the Year, no one can take their eyes off the energetic individualism shown every week in the La Liga.

The teams in the La Liga are rich in history and historically the La Liga has provided a vast amount of winning sides domestically and in European competition. The team at the minute making the world stand up would appear to be the unstoppable Barcelona. A goal fest every week seems to be the norm, Barcelona have already scored over 80 goals this season. With their tactical objective to defend from the front, they have seen real results. Looking unplayable at the minute no team in the La Liga is safe and Barcelona find themselves cruising to a domestic double.

Although Real Madrid can be seen to be pushing Barcelona all the way to try and regain their title the real battle is happening at the bottom. With one of the most tense relegation battles in years, not many teams are safe from the drop and everyone in the bottom half of the league is involved in the race for survival.
Quickly becoming the most entertaining league in the world the next step for Spanish teams would be European domination.

English Premier League

English Premier League trophy, inscribed with ...Image via Wikipedia

The English Premier League consists of 20 teams. Each of them plays each other twice at home and away during the season  to accumulate a total of 38 games. Whichever team finishes with the most points at the end of those games (there are no playoffs in the Premier League) is the champion.
The Points System  for  English Premier League
Teams are awarded three points for a victory, one for a draw, and none for a loss.
The number of goals they scored  in a game has no impact on the number of points awarded. There is also no such thing as overtime during the Premier League season — the result after 90 minutes plus time added on for stoppages is what goes in the books.
Teams who have the same number of points are separated by the tie-breaker known as goal difference (the total number of goals conceded in the season subtracted from the number of goals scored). If that is not enough to separate two teams, you can compare goals scored. Further tie-breakers are seldom required beyond that.
The League Table for  English Premier League
Even if a team cannot finish first in the Premier League, there are still things to play for. The top four finishers all qualify for the following season’s Champions League. And for those who finish fifth and sixth, there is also the promise of European soccer: they both qualify for the Europa League.

English Football - Old style vs Modern Style

Rio Ferdinand & Cesc FabregasImage via Wikipedia

English football doesn't mean Chelsea and Manchester United and Liverpool and Arsenal etc. and the Premier League. These clubs and the league they play in are obviously in rude health, living the life of luxury thanks to Sky's billions and a clutch of foreign investors.
English football means the English national side, English football players and, more than anything else, a way of playing.
The images conjured are of blood and thunder, hard tackling, fast, furious, whole hearted football.
It is an image which has come to be derided in many places and, as a nation, we are being encouraged to disown and be embarrassed by it.
The first was his continual, almost obsessive, use of Cesc Fabregas as his body of evidence for Spanish youth football being so much more advanced than ours.
Fabregas had been coached from the age of six at Barcelona before Arsenal basically stole him at the age of sixteen.
Nothing is proven by Cesc Fabregas, however.
He is an outstanding player, someone who genuinely lifts the standard of the Premier League.
But would he not have been an outstanding player even if he hadn't been at Barcelona at the age of six?
But surely Fabregas is a naturally gifted footballer. Brooking talks about first touch. Surely Fabregas wasn't taught how to trap a football. Surely Fabregas found trapping a football as easy to master as walking or talking, probably easier.
And Fabregas is the exception, not the rule. If every footballer coming out of the Barcelona academy was as good as him then we would have to admit that they were doing something remarkably right, and we were doing something wrong.
World class players, however, are generally born, not manufactured and you should be careful of jumping to conclusions based around the way these players emerge.
When Ajax of Amsterdam won the European Cup around a decade ago with a squad comprising of so many players that had come through their youth system everyone immediately decided that theirs' was the perfect system for developing young players.
Their methods were studied, documented and highlighted in the media endlessly and put before us as a foolproof method for rearing champions.
Of course Ajax have yet to challenge for another European Cup. Which is not to say their youth system is bad and lessons can't be learnt but is there any way of guaranteeing world class footballers? Or even Premier League class footballers?
Coaches make a difference to football, there can be no denying that. But is that difference for the better.
In the old days, which means the 1950's and earlier, coaching and tactics were kept to a bare minimum. Formations barely changed over half a century and teams just got on with the business of playing each other.
People laugh now at the scores that would regularly crop up each weekend as teams up and down the country tried to score more than the team they were playing against.
The only difference between football then and football now is that in those days teams went out to try and score against the opposition whereas now they go out and try to stop the other team from scoring against them.
It doesn't make them better footballers and it certainly doesn't make it any more entertaining for the spectators.
But coaches love to justify themselves therefore the old way had to be the wrong way. They don't seem to have worked out that in the end there can only ever be the same result. You either win, lose or draw and at the end of the season one team wins the league and one team finishes bottom. One team wins the cup and all the rest don't.
Once again the only difference is that nowadays the coaches and managers make sure that it is a lot less fun finding out who finishes where.
Another thing you will always hear coaches harping on about is how much faster the game is these days and how the great players of yesteryear wouldn't be able to cope in todays' game.
This really is the saddest  is that  coaches are intrinsically negative.

Manchester United won Community Shield

Dimitar BerbatovImage via Wikipedia

Manchester United won the Community Shield for the third time in four years as they avenged last year's Wembley defeat to Chelsea. Now menatly Mentally Manchester united take the advantage over chelsea .

A sublime opener finished by Antonio Valencia and a comical debut goal from substitute Javier Hernandez put United 2-0 up.

Kalou pulled a goal back late on and double-winning Chelsea threatened to level before Dimitar Berbatov sealed their fate in stoppage time.
Valencia gave last season's runners-up the lead against the Barclays Premier League champions four minutes before half-time.

The Ecuador winger swept home a superb first-time cross by Wayne Rooney who had been put clear down the right by a glorious raking pass from Paul Scholes.

New signing Hernandez got the second 14 minutes from time.John O'Shea released Valencia down the right and the winger's low cross was met by the Mexican, who slipped, kicking the ball against his own face and into the net.

Chelsea were given a lifeline seconds later when Edwin Van der Sar parried a shot straight to Kalou, who swept home the rebound.

Last season's double winners were well on top and Didier Drogba hit the side-netting from the narrowest of angles ina thrilling finale.

Kalou failed to control a Drogba cross in stoppage-time before United sealed victory, Nani releasing Berbatov, who coolly lobbed the ball over a stranded Hilario.

Fifa Declare War On Free Live Streaming Web Sites

FIFA are up in arms over an USA website that shows live soccer streams for FREE.As well as the usual culprits of peer to peer streams from China, the new culprit is San Francisco based video website Justin.tv

Soccer viewers can avoid paying high monthly payments to UK TV companies Sky and Setanta who hold exclusive rights to show the live games. As well as watching what paying customers can see, Soccer viewers can even watch matches that arent being broadcast by these companies.
EPL spokesman Dan Johnson said:- We are in contact with this site and their lawyers and are seeking to prevent any further abuse of our rights. The streaming of live EPL matches without permission is not only illegal, but also unfair on fans who have paid to go to matches or subscribed to Sky and Setanta.
International matches including UK World Cup qualifying games are also shown live on Justin.tv. This despite the fact that Setanta Sports have exclusive rights.

FA chiefs have said that their lawyers will be commencing legal action against Justin.tv. A spokesman said: We are aware that websites around the world are seeking to exploit the popularity of English soccer. We take any infringements of our broadcasting rights very seriously and we will be looking at this particular website very carefully. We always take action to protect our rights and will do so again in this case.’
The huge popularity of Justin.tv started when founder Justin Kan started a web stream of his everyday life and broadcast over the internet. The website which was launched March 2007, has grown quickly and has thousands of user channels showing everything from dog breeding to growing tomatoe streams.
However the live soccer streams are amongst the most popular areas of the website, especially amongst UK and European users. The concept of the site is a simple one. Anyone with a cam can point it at something from their living room or at a tv set showing sports and movies. The feed is then played on their channel on Justin.tv
And because of this a popular soccer game can be seen on many channels on the site making policing of them difficult.
So whilst the companies concerned grapple with who can stream what and when, take advantage of all the free soccer streams available.

After the enormous popularity of our free tv list giving you amazing content to watch, we thought we might give something for your listening pleasure. We have added a new category of Radio.
Radio streams are not exactly watchable but are a great addition to the site as you can now listen to thousands of worldwide radio stations.
Internet radio, also known as web radio, net radio, streaming radio and e-radio is radio stations broadcasting via the Internet. This is also called webcasting. Internet radio provides a continuous stream of audio and amongst traditional radio stations available there are also Internet only radio stations.
The beauty of radio streams is that they can be accessed from anywhere in the world. So for example, you can listen to an English station from America or anywhere else in the world.
Heres a selection of some of the best.
